MEJORES HOTELES PET FRIENDLY DE INGLATERRA

One of the most important aspects when organising a trip is precisely the hotel where you are going to stay during your holiday. And when travelling with a pet, things get even more complicated, as not all hotels allow pets, or they do, but with many limits. That is why we are going to tell you what we think are the requirements that a hotel must have to be really pet friendly.

1. Pets allowed without weight limitThis seems to us to be the most important one, because in most hotels there is ALWAYS a weight limit. I understand that if it is a hotel where the rooms are very small, you can't put an 80 kg dog in there because it might not fit, but if you are going to set a limit, make it flexible. That's why we think that a limit of maybe 30-40 kg in small hotels would be fine. Although there will always be someone who disagrees (and we understand that).

2. Price per night: another essential feature. There are many hotels that charge very high supplements per night just for bringing your pet. Obviously, we understand that you have to pay a supplement for cleaning, but the reality is that you have to clean your room thoroughly whether you have dogs in the room or not. We are going to show you hotel chains that charge up to €40 a day extra, which is crazy if you plan to travel for a week or more. So keep this in mind, especially if you don't have as much money as we do 😂

3. Pet policy: This is something we pay a lot of attention to when booking a hotel or not, and it is precisely the hotel's policy regarding animals: whether they can be left alone in the room or not, whether you have to leave a deposit or not, whether they lend you a bed for your pet, etc. We have seen hotels where as a rule you have to leave a deposit of at least €200. I understand that this is in case they break something, but what they are showing you is that they don't trust you, and they are not giving you a chance to prove that your dog knows how to behave.

4. Reviews: we usually look at hotel reviews and comments, especially in the questions section, where many of them are related to pets. If a hotel has a bad reputation, suspect that it may not be the best for your furry friends.

• Ibis:

This chain is inside Accor, a group that includes many hotel chains in different price ranges. We have stayed a few times in this chain (before Snow) and we are very happy. Without going any further, on our trip to Porto (things to see in Porto with a dog in 2 days) we stayed at Ibis. La verdad que nos trataron de maravilla y estuvimos muy cómodos. Sin duda repetiremos.

Tenéis que tener en cuenta que no es una cadena de lujo, pero tiene todo lo necesario para estar cómodos, tanto nosotros como nuestra mascota. Hay que pagar un suplemento claro, y eso es lo que nos gusta de esta cadena, el precio suele ser bastante asequible, suele estar entre los €10 and 20 €, in some European countries even less than €10. In our case, in Porto the supplement was 15 € per night. The truth is that we found the price to be quite affordable, and that was one of the reasons why we chose this hotel. Best of all, they didn't even charge us the supplement, so with us you will have guaranteed customers. The requirements for booking are:

• Se aceptan perros de hasta 15 kg. En Europa esta normativa es diferente, admiten perros grandes también.
• Please inform the hotel of your stay at the time of booking.
• The animal must have the compulsory vaccines.
• Always keep them on a leash, or if it is a PDD, it will have to carry a muzzle and liability insurance.
• They are banned from cafés and restaurants, except for assistance dogs.
• It is forbidden to leave animals unattended in the room or inside the vehicle.
• It is forbidden to leave food in the bowls, to bathe them and to use hotel towels.
• It is forbidden for them to sleep on the bed or any furniture.

They are standard rules in all hotels, everyone knows their dog and knows what they can and can't do. Without a doubt, for us the best option if you don't want to spend a lot of money, very basic hotels, but with everything you need, well done and tolerant with pets.

En Inglaterra, por ejemplo, no vimos peso máximo a la hora de reservar con ellos, por lo que lo del peso varía en función del hotel, ya que en Madrid había límite de peso en varios de sus hoteles, pero, en cambio, vimos un Husky en el vestíbulo.

• Holiday Inn

Una cadena muy popular en Inglaterra, ya que cuenta con más de 110 hoteles por el país. Están dentro del grupo IGH, al cual también pertenecen cadenas como Iberostar o los hoteles Intercontinental. Los hoteles suelen ser de entre 2 y 4 estrellas.

• Solo aceptan perros y/o gatos y el peso máximo permitido dependerá de cada hotel.
• The pet must not be left unleashed on the premises (obviously) and the animal must be out of the room or under the control of the owners for cleaning.
• Algunos de sus hoteles tienen restaurantes dog friendly, pero depende del hotel.
• Have documentation at the time of check-in.
• The pet may not be left alone in the room except when guests are in the restaurant. All quite normal and acceptable.
• The price is 20 € POR ESTANCIA de suplemento. Nos parece que está bastante bien, sobre todo si te vas a alojar durante un periodo largo de tiempo.

Una cosa que nos ha llamado la atención de esta cadena es que son bastante baratos para lo bien que se ven en las fotos. Se parecen a los Ibis, pero se ven un poco más lujosos y el precio es el mismo que el de un Ibis. Seguramente les demos una oportunidad en el futuro.

• Mercure/Novotel:

Hoteles del grupo All Accor, que también admite mascotas. Tienen hoteles por todo el mundo (nosotros estuvimos en un Mercure en Biarritz y la verdad que era chulísimo el hotel) y tienen entre 3 y 4 estrellas. Los requisitos en Europa son los siguientes:

• Admiten mascotas sin límite de peso (depende del hotel y el país, pero no suelen tener límite).
• Your pet must be kept on a leash at all times.
• They can't stay alone in the room except at mealtimes, for which a sign had to be left on the door.
• To get your room cleaned, you had to be outside (another obvious thing).
• Tienen prohibido estar en las zonas de la piscina, spa y restaurantes.
• Have documentation and the vaccines at the time of check-in.
• El suplemento oscila los 10 and the 25 € por noche, pero dependerá del hotel, ya que algunos cobran estancia.

• Hoteles Hilton:

Los famosísimos hoteles Hilton también admiten mascotas y lo bueno que tienen es que hay muchísimos hoteles, de diferentes precios y categorías donde elegir, así que también nos parece una buena opción.

Los requisitos con los siguientes:

• Se admiten tanto perros como gatos, en algunos hay límite de peso y en otros no.
• Los suplementos varían bastante en función del hotel, ya que algunos cobran 15 libras por noche, otros 25, etc.
• No pueden estar sueltos por el hotel, ni puedes dejarlos solos en la habitación.
• No pueden estar en los restaurantes como normal general, a menos que el hotel tenga un restaurante o una zona dog friendly.

Si estás pensando en darte un lujo o un capricho, esta selección de hoteles pet friendly te va a encantar. Son hoteles caros, algunos incluso MUY caros, pero queríamos que vieseis todas las oportunidades y todos los hoteles en los que sí nos quedaríamos.

• Hoteles W:

Solo con el nombre ya sabéis que esta cadena es el lujo por antonomasia. Y también admiten mascotas, así que os dejamos los requisitos:

• Peso máximo admitido 18 kg y máximo una mascota por habitación.
• Pet fee of €25/night.
• Cargo de 100 € adicionales por limpieza.
• Incluye un kit de bienvenida con una cama, bebedero y un juguete.

• Kimpton Hotels:

Una cadena muy lujosa con hoteles por toda Europa, donde también admiten a nuestras mascotas. Estos son los requisitos:

• Admite mascotas sin límite de peso.
• Sin suplemento por noche.
• Incluye un kit de bienvenida con una cama, bebedero y un juguete.
• Algunos hoteles tienen restaurantes dog friendly, por lo que vuestros perros podrán acompañaros.

• Hoteles Hyatt:

Una cadena que tiene hoteles por todo el mundo. En España hay varios en Madrid y Barcelona y Murcia. Hemos visto que en el de Barcelona admiten mascotas incluso en la zona de desayuno, lo cual nos parece maravilloso. Los requisitos varían en función del hotel, pero os dejamos lo principal:

• Peso máximo admitido 40 kg si es una mascota o dos mascotas de 20 kg por habitación.
• Se admiten mascotas como perros y gatos.
• Suplemento de 20 €/noche.
• Se ofrecen camas, y platos de comida y agua para perros y gatos.

• Nobu Hotels:

No conocíamos esta cadena hasta que nos ha salido en una lista de hoteles de lujo. Hemos estado investigando y efectivamente, son pet friendly. Eso sí, prepárate para pagar unos 500 €/noche si quieres hospedarte aquí.

En cuanto a los requisitos, varían en función del hotel. Os dejamos los de Londres para que os hagáis una idea: 

• Solo admiten perros y gatos.
• Only one animal per room.
• Como norma general, se admiten perros de hasta 15 kg, pero si previamente preguntáis, es posible que acomoden a un perro más grande.
• No se pueden quedar solos en la habitación.
• Se cobrará un suplemento de 50 libras por cada 10 días de estancia, así que si es menos tiempo no se cobraría ese suplemento.
• Tienen que ir atados en todo momento mientras estén en las zonas comunes del hotel.
• Ofrecen cuencos para la comida y la bebida, una cama y un albornoz.

Pero la cosa no acaba aquí, y es que tienen servicios de paseo de perro, peluquería, masajes para ellos y guardería canina por horas. Y viene todo detallado en su página web, lo cual nos parece increíble. Pero por desgracia solo está al alcance de unos pocos.

En Inglaterra no hay demasiadas cadenas, sino que hay hoteles tipo boutique, es decir, solo hay 1 o 2 hoteles de la cadena, no 30 como los Ibis. Esto puede ser algo bueno, ya que en un hotel boutique el trato va a ser más cercano y siempre van a tratar mejor a vuestros perros que en una cadena donde es más difícil llegar a hablar con un responsable en caso de que ocurra algo.

En este blog, como ya sabréis, os lo tenemos que contar TODO, tanto hoteles asequibles, como aquellos más lujosos. Pero en este caso os vamos a contar qué hoteles no os recomendamos, ya sea por su suplemento para mascotas, ya sea por su política de mascotas o por el peso máximo. Muchas de estas cadenas aprovechan el tirón «pet friendly» para aprovecharse y cobrarnos un suplemento completamente alejado de nuestro presupuesto, porque pensamos que un perro no genera tal gasto extra. Sin embargo, es cierto que en algún momento hemos estado alojados en alguno de ellos. Eso sí, sin perro.

• Britannia Hotels:

Solo con el nombre ya podemos intuir que solo se encuentran en esta zona de Europa. En Booking aparecen un total de 31 hoteles de esta cadena que admiten perro.

Requisitos:

• En principio admiten perros y gatos, y tampoco especifican el peso máximo admitido ni el número máximo de mascotas.
• Pets must always be under the supervision of the owner.
• Tendrá que ir atado en todas las zonas comunes, incluido en el jardín.
• The pet fee is 10 libras si es una noche, o 25 libras por estancia, excepto en The Royal Bath Hotel en Bournemouth, donde el suplemento son 20 libras por noche.
• Piden un depósito por si acaso.

Tienen bastantes normas estrictas, lo cual nos hace pensar que no son dog friendly, sino que simplemente los toleran un poco, pero que no molesten, que no se les oiga, probablemente te darán la habitación más vieja y fea del hotel. Así que no lo recomendamos.

• Booking: a classic that we all use at some point in our lives. All you have to do is, once you have typed in your destination, filter where it says ‘pets allowed’, and you will know exactly how many hotels allow pets. Once you see one you like, just go to the requirements and see how much the supplement is per night. Sometimes it doesn't say, so in that case you can look in the questions to the hotel (there are almost always one or two related to pets), or you can write directly to the hotel.
• Bring FidoWe discovered this application a year ago and we LOVE it. The bad thing is that it is in English, but if you need help with this procedure we have a service of consultancy and language assistance to help you with this process. You search for the destination you want and you will see the hotels, flats that allow dogs and the requirements. You also have the option to view restaurants and bars that are pet friendly, but it is not very reliable because if the establishment is not registered on this website it will not appear.
